Saroj Bhattarai’s Debut Book ‘Kaleji Prem’ Explores Love, Society and Patriotism

Kathmandu: Writer Saroj Bhattarai has made his literary debut with ‘Kaleji Prem,’ a book that explores love, relationships, society and human emotions while also expressing a deep sense of patriotism and attachment to the motherland.

The book was officially launched on Monday at a ceremony attended by Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki as the chief guest. Nabil Bank Chief Executive Officer Manoj Gyawali and writer and Chancellor of Nepal Academy Kumar Nagarkoti attended the event as special guests.

During the programme, Deepashikha Ghimire and Nabin Khatri presented their reviews of Kaleji Prem, discussing the book’s themes, emotional depth and social perspectives.

Speaking at the launch, author Bhattarai said Kaleji Prem should not be viewed merely as a love story. He described the book as a literary attempt to bring together love, life, society and the emotional bond people share with their country in a single narrative journey.

Inspector General Karki said the stories and ideas presented in the book could resonate with many young Nepalis who aspire to build their identities and futures while remaining in Nepal.

Emphasising the importance of civic responsibility, Karki encouraged young people, including the author, to use their skills, knowledge and creativity for the development of the country.

Kaleji Prem marks Bhattarai’s first literary work and presents an exploration of personal relationships and emotions alongside broader reflections on society, life and the connection between young people and their homeland.
