Kathmandu : Young Nepali motorcycle instructor and road captain Sital Giri has launched a historic solo motorcycle journey across all 77 districts of Nepal.
Under the campaign titled “Nepal 77 – The Solo Ride of a Nepali Woman,” she has currently reached Okhaldhunga as part of her nationwide expedition.
The campaign aims to complete the journey across all 77 districts within 50 to 55 days without rest, making it the first-ever solo motorcycle expedition by a Nepali woman to cover the entire country.
The 23-year-old rider from Sitapaila has been actively involved in motorcycle riding since 2018. She is recognized as Nepal’s first female motorcycle instructor and the country’s youngest road captain. So far, she has trained more than 400 women and helped them obtain motorcycle licenses.
Before starting this campaign, Giri had already traveled to 68 districts and successfully completed a 15-day solo ride to Dolpa. Through this mission, she aims to create history by continuously traveling across all remaining districts of Nepal.
The journey is expected to cover around 6,000 to 7,000 kilometers, including Himalayan regions, remote areas of Karnali, hilly routes, and long highways across the Terai. About 90 percent of the trip will be completed by motorcycle, while the remaining 10 percent in remote areas will require walking and special access routes.
Sital Giri also has a strong social media presence, with more than 329,000 followers across Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.
She describes the campaign as a symbol of energy, courage, endurance, and women’s empowerment. Daily videos, live updates, helmet-camera footage, reels, and a final documentary are also planned during the journey.
According to Giri, “This is not just a motorcycle journey; it is a national campaign that challenges the limits of women’s independence, courage, and capability.”
Alongside the expedition, she is also promoting the National Forum of Photo Journalists Nepal (NFPJ Nepal) by carrying the organization’s flag in every district and introducing its activities to local journalists. NFPJ Nepal has also extended its best wishes for the successful completion of her historic journey.
