Kathmandu, Nepal – In celebration of its 30th anniversary, The Hidden Treasure, a prominent name in Nepal’s fashion industry, has unveiled the **‘Designer of The Year’ (DOTY)** competition. This initiative aims to empower emerging fashion designers, students, and enthusiasts by providing them a platform to showcase their creativity while bolstering the Miss Nepal pageant.
Competition Structure and Auditions
Auditions will be held across four cities—Nepalganj, Pokhara, Biratnagar, and Kathmandu—to select 12–15 participants based on their sketches and garment presentations. Selected designers will receive 4–5 weeks of mentorship from industry experts, including renowned fashion designers, sewing machine specialists, and fabric suppliers. They will also visit leading garment factories to refine their craft.
Each participant must create 6–7 original designs, alongside 2–3 exclusive pieces for The Hidden Treasure, including a **National Costume and an Evening Gown.
Prizes and Opportunities
The winner will receive a cash prize of NPR 150,000, a high-tech JACK sewing machine, and the chance to see their National Costume worn by the Miss Nepal winner at international pageants. Additionally, their Evening Gown may be showcased globally. Notably, one model from the DOTY finale will secure direct entry into the Miss Nepal 202 pageant.
A Vision for Empowerment
“DOTY is designed to uplift talent that previously lacked opportunities,” stated organizers, emphasizing its dual role in nurturing designers and enhancing Nepal’s presence in global fashion.
Aspiring designers are encouraged to participate in this landmark event, blending tradition with innovation to shape the future of Nepali fashion.
